In America, a person may be free to do wrong, but they aren’t free from the consequences of that action, should they choose to take it. Most reasonably minded folks understand that, however, we aren’t exactly living in the age of rational thinking.

One person who should’ve figured his actions came with consequences is former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who left his post before completing his first month, after it was discovered that he had several private conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak, during the 2016 presidential election. Now, Flynn’s family has decided to set up a legal defense fund to pay for the “enormous expense of attorneys’ fees.”

Flynn’s siblings who created the fund said in a statement:

‘The various investigations arising out of the 2016 presidential election have placed a tremendous financial burden on our brother Mike and his family. The enormous expense of attorneys’ fees and other related expenses far exceed their ability to pay.’

They went on to add:

‘To help ensure that he can defend himself, we have set up a legal defense fund, and we are asking Mike’s supporters, veterans and all people of goodwill to contribute whatever amount they can to this fund.’

On Monday, Flynn tweeted a link to the website for the fund, noting how “grateful” him and his wife were to his siblings for creating it.

‘Lori and I are very grateful to my brother Joe and sister Barbara for creating a fund to help pay my legal defense costs. 1/2’

‘We deeply appreciate the support of family and friends across this nation who have touched our lives. Mikeflynndefensefund.org 2/2’

Based on the responses on Twitter, though, not many people had much sympathy for Flynn. Some of the best responses are featured below.
